What could be more terrific than the letter T. We loved the new Alpha-friends song about Tiggy the Tiger. He is a tiger who always knows a word that begins with the letter T. This week the children were ready with their word wall words. Our wall will soon be covered with words! The children practiced formation of the letter, making letter sounds, reviewed the letters we have covered and had fun while doing it. At art time, the children collage a turquoise letter T with toothpicks, painted with our toes, and used special teeny tiny tape to make cool pictures. The sensory tub had sand with treasure buried in it. The children searched through the sand with tongs to find the treasure. The dramatic play center featured the tools! The children played a letter and sound matching game and worked with rhyming words. We discussed some vocabulary words from the family theme and worked more on our writing. I believe I have a preliminary idea of the levels that the kiddos are at right now in reference to reading. We will begin some more individualized work in the coming weeks to start moving right along! Next week we will focus more on word parts and syllables as well as the letter O!
