The Author of the Week-- MArch 1-5

Dr. Seuss was honored this week with a lot of silliness and fun. The children learned about the man who wrote some of our favorite books. We learned about the fact that Dr. Seuss was a pseudonym and what his real name was. They children really enjoyed hearing these books. The art table was hopping as we made Seuss hats and painted Gertrude McFuzz, a character from one of his books. The kiddos also helped to make green eggs after reading "Green Eggs and Ham" Several of the kiddos tried this weird colored concoction and several just played with the rhyme offered in this selection. I asked the "refusers" if they would eat it in a box or with a fox? Before long we were rhyming EVERYTHING! Dr. Seuss was awesome at making beginning phonics fun. He also had very good morals to his stories. The children learned to be happy with how they are made in the story "Gertrude McFuzz", they learned about being greedy and bossy in "Yertle the Turtle". The students were reminded to try new things in "Green Eggs and Ham". What an awesome week we had!!
