Dinosaurs...

I am sure you could guess that this was a popular theme. The children began with a bit of vocabulary as we discussed; extinct, paleontologist, fossil, carnivore and herbivore. The students marveled at the odd names and many different body styles. We talked a bit about how each dinosaur had features that helped them to survive. Many fun literature selections were read such as; "Dinosaur Roar", Danny's Dinosaurs", "Sammy and the Dinosaurs", "Digging up Dinosaurs" and many more. The room was busy with dino activities. The children enjoyed a dinosaur land in the sensory table complete with sand, soil, water, rocks, sticks and dinosaurs of course. At the easel, we did rubbings of Dinosaur skin plates, we manipulated a flannel board dinosaur land. The kiddos chipped dinosaurs out of a plaster of Paris and sand mix...Dinosaur Rocks, and made a noodle fossil. The children played with linking bones in the construction center and helped to build a class book about where they thought all the dinosaurs went! What an awesome week!
